Why My Therapy Style Is Basically a Drip Coffee Maker
The slow pour of transformation, one near-boil at a time.
If my therapy style were a kitchen gadget, it wouldn’t be a flashy Vitamix or some soulless air fryer.
It’d be the humble coffee maker.
Not the single-button Keurig, mind you. I’m talking about the ritual-rich, intention-heavy drip kind.
Here’s why:
Choosing Your Beans = Personalization: Everyone brings different their flavor notes to the session. Trauma, hope, grief, joy. We select the starting point together.
Water temp is *just below* boiling. This = transformation, NOT burn(out): Growth takes heat, but never scalding. We can see the edge, but don’t go over it.
The Filter = Discernment: Some things need to be sifted. Beliefs, stories, roles that no longer serve.
The Pour is the Process: This is all a collaboration. A messy, artful, intuitive one. Sometimes it will be strong and bold, sometimes gentle and light.
The Result (You): What emerges is complex, energizing, and yours. Your healing might not come with oat milk foam hearts, but it will be potent.
